MP-70 is a new spinnaker fabric designed specifically for the cruising and club-racing sailor. It is the result of a comprehensive development process spanning three years of intensive, testing and investment.
The project objective was to deliver the cruising sailor a market leading spinnaker fabric that can deliver stronger, faster and above all, longer lasting sails that are excellent value for money.
AIRX Pedigree:
MP-70 was designed by the same team of Bainbridge fabric engineers that developed AIRX, the product that has redefined racing spinnaker fabrics and delivered projects such as Team New Zealand and Kingfisher uncompromised performance.
Quality yarn:
Selecting the right fibre was key to the MP-70 project. Only precisely the right yarn could deliver a product that could meet the demanding design specification.
The latest weaving technology: MP-70 is woven on state-of-the-art looms in one of the worlds most advanced weaving plants.
The key is the finish:
The key to the brilliance of MP-70 is the finishing. The two-stage process is not only unique but is also only possible through the development of new finishing equipment specifically for the MP-70 project.
MP-70 is both impregnated and coated with a tough PU based resin. First the impregnation soaks into the fabric surrounding the nylon fibre and locking the weave together. It is then coated to further stabilise the weave and reduce porosity to zero.
Tried and Tested:
MP-70 has been exhaustively tested. In the lab new durability and performance tests were developed outside of those usually used in the sailcloth industry. On the water, hundreds of hours of test data was collected and analysed to ensure MP-70 delivers the strength, performance, durability and value sought after by cruising and club racing sailors world-wide.
